If you want to know the easiest and fastest way to convert DVD movies so they can be played back on your PSP in the best quality, then read on.
The Basics
DVD movies when converted to the PSP will take around 300MB's of storage space. You will therefore need a PSP memory card with at least 512MB of memory if you intend to store a couple of movies when traveling with your PSP. I would recommend one of the following high quality memory cards:
In addition to the memory card, you will need a USB cable to connect the PSP to your PC.
The best DVD to PSP conversion software
By far the quickest and simplest way to convert your DVD to PSP format is to use commercial software and the best package I have used is Cucuosoft DVD to PSP Converter.
This program will read the DVD directly, convert it to the PSP format then transfer the new movie file to your PSP memory card. Also it will perform the conversion at least 4x faster than using alternative methods. On my Laptop I get a conversion speed of over 150 fps!!

The latest version of DVD to PSP Converter can perform the conversion from a single click. For my flexibility I prefer to use the Direct Method which takes a couple more clicks but has a lot more control over what is converted.

The free but slow method
It is possible to convert a DVD to PSP using free software, but it requires multiple applications which are complex to setup and use and will take MUCH longer to convert a movie.
Whereas the DVD to PSP Converter will convert the movie on the fly for you, with the free method you have to first extract the movie to your hard disk removing the protection, and then convert it using a different application. This takes up much more space on your hard disk (and requires an NTFS formatted drive) and also takes a LOT longer.
